INVESTIGATION INTO INSTITUTIONS
ITV
- only distributes what it considers as high quality content
- primarily funded by television advertising revenue
- has the largest share of the UK TV advertising market (47.6%)
- 21 million registered users of ITV Hub
- delivers its content across multiple platforms: itv/ itv 2/ itv 3/ itv 4/ C TV/ itv be
- 3 priorities: people, plant and partnerships
- people: reflect modern society through our programmes, workforce and services, ensuring were relevant and accessible to all
- planet: to increase awareness about environmental sustainability through our programmes whilst minimising the environmental impact of our operations
- partnerships: to harness the power our programmes to empower our people to make a difference to communities and causes
- Each of our priorities highlight the risks and opportunities that are most relevant to us, and we have made four commitments under each which incorporate our main assets and business operations.
CHANNEL 5
- does not want shows that are ‘tricksy’ or derivative
- looking for programmes that are engaging and intelligent
- want programmes that have relevance to the viwer
- want factual shows
- not looking for comedy or drama
From this research I can conclude that my show would be better suited to ITV as Channel 5 is unlikely to want a show which is a crime drama, also, Channel 5 does not like 'tricksy' shows, which mine will be. My show will reflect modern society which will make it suitable to be on ITV.
