AIMS AND INTENTIONS
For my audio-visual sequence,
I will be creating a crime drama called ‘Finesse’, it will be about 2 girls who
have a talent for committing robberies and target people who have done them
wrong. The segment I produce will be about a point of conflict in the show
where they break into the home of a man close to one of the main characters,
this will lead to a police investigation into the crime and will heighten the
girls’ lust for criminal activity.
The show will be made for a millennial audience, specifically women because of
the empowering, female lead characters. It will also be aimed at the younger
half of the millennial generation due to its modern, upbeat style and young
characters.
I will use media language in
my production through fast-paced editing, this will make the show feel up beat
and engaging. I will also use slow motion and ump cut editing to make the show
feel abstract and, these techniques will make the scene interesting for the
audience. I am also planning to use a range of unique camera angles in order to
emphasise the abstract style of the show, such as low and tilted angles. I will
use non-digetic sound for the majority of the sequence, the music will be in
the hip hop/ R&B genre and will be in sync with the action in the scene, I chose
this music style because it is popular among young people so a millennial
audience will find it enjoyable to watch.
I will represent individuals
who are young and want to be rebellious who can live through the characters,
this inscription will make the characters enjoyable to watch for the audience
because they can feel as if they can live a certain way of life without
consequences which they would not be able to get away with in the real world.
My production will conform to
its industry context by reflecting modern society, which is a priority of ITV’s
when it comes to choosing what programmes to distribute.
It will be broadcast at 9PM when the target audience is home from work/school,
will have finished eating and bathing etc. and will be wanting to relax by
watching TV.
For
my print production, I will make a lifestyle magazine similar to the style of
Vanity Fair and Marie Claire because they appeal to similar audiences as my TV
show. I will have a photograph of the main actress on the cover, she will look sophisticated
so that she is perceived as admirable. I plan to use font colours to create a
limited colour palette. The double page spread will include 2 or 3 more photographs
from the photoshoot which are more casual and show her personality, making her appear
approachable and likeable. It was also feature an interview with her. The title
of my magazine will be ‘SHADE’, to represent young slang and inside gossip which features in the
magazine. The target audience of the magazine will be young, streetwise
millennials, similar to the people that the show appeals to through its young
characters and hip-hop music. Although the magazine will be in a similar style
to Vanity Fair and Marie Claire, the target audience will be slightly less
mature so my magazine will have a younger and more fun spin to it.
