PRODUCT PLAN

originally I wanted to make a factual show based on the behaviour of people living together, similar to Love Island or Big Brother, however I thought that, realistically, it would be difficult to get people I knew to act like the sort of people that are seen on shows like that. this is because people on these shows have to be dramatic and , in some people opinions, fake and over the top. I knew that my friends would find it difficult to act well in that way without finding cringe worthy and breaking character. I then thought I could make a documentary about education in Cambridge, but realised the product I wanted to create was too similar to shows like educating Essex/ Yorkshire etc. which are broadcast on Channel 4 and so, wouldn't fit the criteria of being shown on ITV/ Channel 5.
I decided to make a crime drama because I could think of a 3 minute sequence that would include a key turning point, which is required in the brief. I have decided that the sequence of my show will be of the first 3 minutes into the episode, where a crime is being committed (so far I think I will have 2 characters stealing an item from an undecided location) and then showing the lead detective being assigned to the case.
